Jay Walker, artist

At the age of 31 Jay Walker returned to college studying Art and Design. It was here that abstract expressionism was to have a major influence; Jackson Pollock being the main inspirational figure. Upon leaving college he moved to Dublin, found a studio in the Docklands area and carried on painting, developing his work and absorbing the surroundings.

Jay now works from a studio in Co Carlow, at the foot of Mount Leinster. His more recent work has moved further from abstraction toward a style of impressionism; recording the change and development which is sweeping the cities throughout Ireland and in contrast the subdued tranquility of coastal and country life.

Charmain Fitzgerald, artist

Having lived in Dublin, London, New York and LA, Charmain Fitzgerald is inspired by the unusual quirkes and nuances of her past and present surroundings and their accompanying inhabitants. She chooses oil or acrylic as her medium and her paintings are figurative and realist/surrealist, using representational form to create a sense of otherness, not detached from everyday things.

Forgoing the education route due to so much moving around, Charmain has been taking classes under established artists for the past few years, and currently works from her home in north Dublin. She is making the transition from concentrating on portrait work over to encompassing unsettling interiors and still life where your eye is caught more so by the items that should not really be there.

John Nolan, artist

John Nolan's exuberant style combines bold outlines with bright exotic colours. His interpretation of various motifs transmits a positive upbeat feeling to his viewers. These motifs are:

Fish, Flowers, People, Birds, Still Life, Abstract, Collage, Landscapes.

The celebration of colour and form, has preoccupied him from an early age and was nurtured through the encouragement and instruction received from his father who was an artist himself.

Eve McDonnell, artist

Eve McDonnell's love for painting was kick-started at a young age when she won 3rd prize in the Texaco Art Competition. She attended the National College of Art and Design before embarking on an 8 year career in Graphic Design.

Having moved from Dublin to the beautiful countryside of Wexford, she now spends more time rekindling her love for painting, working primarily on commissions. Using oils as her chosen medium, Eve specialises in street-scenes and endeavours to capture the romance of places that hold a special meaning to her clients.

Chara Nagle, artist

Chara Nagle started painting at a young age and decided very early on that art was her life and passion. She was fascinated by observing people and portraying their everyday activities in her art.

Chara's paintings are big, bold, dramatic observations of everyday life. However there is also an element of intrigue and humour to Chara's paintings. She invites the viewer to come to their own conclusions as to what is happening in the painting. Chara engages the viewer further through her use of vibrant colours and realistic portrail of her subject matter.
